Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains presided over the event. Operations DIG Dr Haider Ashraf, Investigations DIG Chaudhary Sultan, Security DIG Moen Masood and other police officers were present on the occasion.
Ashraf presented Spasnama at the beginning of the ceremony. Later, newly passing recruits presented their skills of protecting the personality, firing at target while patrolling, moving vehicle and capturing the suspected terrorists.
Speaking on the occasion, Wains said that the second badge completed training in a short span of one month. “Commandos of Elite Force trained them in multiple target engagement, counter field assassination, anti-hostage and provision of first aid to the injured during combat etc.,” he added. The training module was according to international standards, he said.
He said that the purpose of the establishment of the unit was to provide security to international delegations and important personalities. He said that they were introducing reforms in operations, investigations and other wings of the police force. After establishment of SSU, the department will not need contingent to be called in from police stations for law and order situation and security purposes.
Moreover, he also paid his tribute to the martyred police officials and their families on the occasion.
Wains said that it was highly encouraging that projects of Lahore Police were being replicated throughout the province. He also appealed the citizens to cooperate with police by remaining vigilant and sharing information to curb crime and terrorism from the country.
