LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Friday again issued notice to PML-N MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq on an application filed by Humayun Akhtar Khan of PML-Q seeking restoration of a disqualification case against Rafiq that had earlier been dismissed for non prosecution.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial had dismissed on April 1 the petition of Khan and he filed this application to restore his petition and decide it on merit. The counsel submitted that the case should be decided on merit and not on technical grounds.

Khan, who had lost the general election to Rafiq in NA-125, a Lahore constituency, had accused Rafiq of concealing his assets at the time of filing nomination papers and also of not disclosing his source of earning huge amounts of money.

He said Rafiq claimed that he had won prize bonds worth Rs40.37 million during 2003 to 2007, however, did not mention details of the said bonds before the Election Commission.
