In his condolence message, Fakhar said that Hameed had written many great books, even though only ‘Urdu Nasar Ki Dastan’ and ‘Urdu Sher Ki Dastan’ were considered trendsetting publications in Urdu literature. He called the death of Hameed, who began writing in 1948, a “great loss to Urdu literature.”
National Language Authority Chairman Iftikhar Arif called his death “the end of a golden period of romantic poetry.” Arif said that Hameed had written a number of quality books during the last six decades, including novels, travelogues and articles on literary personalities. His first publication was ‘Manzal Manzal.’ The book “Gulsitan-e-Adab ki Sunehri Yadain” is a historic document comprising essays on various personalities of that time. “His way of writing was very impressive,” added Arif.
