The convocation ceremony was held at MUET's main campus in Jamshoro.
The students who received gold medals included Zunera Memon, Dhanesh Kumar, Muhammad Arsalan Yousufzai, Mahnoor Syed, Rida, Hassam Shaikh and Aran Kumar. Another 54 students, who secured second and third positions in their respective departments, received merit certificates.
Among the graduating students, 645 belonged to bachelors of engineering programme, out of whom, 559 studied at the main campus while 86 were registered at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Campus in Khairpur Mir.

Three students received the degree of doctor of philosophy while 48 graduated as masters of engineering. Eight students received the degree of masters of philosophy while 22 students of bachelors of architecture, 11 students of bachelors of city regional planning, 13 students of B Tech (Honours), two students of B Tech (Pass), and 16 students of bachelors of science and information technology also received the degrees.
"The 2014 batch which appeared in the exams in the first week of October [2017] are being awarded degrees in the last week of December [2017]," observed MUET Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili. "This sets a new example of academic and administrative progress of MUET."

At the 21st convocation, MUET achieved twin benchmarks of handing over the degrees in the same calendar year of exams and of completing the process in less than three months. Dr Uqaili said MUET was contributing for the social development. He told that the varsity's faculty and students have been sharing important researches over water, energy crisis, Thar coal and environment with the government.
First VC of MUET Dr SM Qureshi and former Pakistan International Airlines' managing director Dr Syed Mir Mohammad Shah also spoke at the convocation.
