369 uplift schemes approved for DG Khan

Sewerage lines would be laid in Layyah District at a cost of Rs140m

MULTAN: At least 369 development projects worth Rs2 billion have been approved by the federal government for Dera Ghazi Khan District. This was announced by Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Ahmad Ali Kamboh in a ceremony organised at divisional department on Wednesday.

The commissioner said that the goal of all development projects was to facilitate the masses. He said, “It is the priority of the government to provide a healthy and safe environment to the citizens.”

Meanwhile, it was approved that sewerage and drainage lines would be laid in Layyah District. For the purpose, more than Rs140 million would be invested in the project.

Urban development project approved

Other projects which were approved included 27 projects from NA-171, 62 from NA-172, 52 from NA-173, 25 from NA-174, 14 from NA-175, 35 projects from NA-177, seven development schemes from NA -178, 13 from NA-179, 15 from NA-180, 64 from NA-181 and 101 projects from  NA-182. The projects that were approved also included electricity, gas, municipal and infrastructure.

Earlier, the government allocated Rs626 million for 39 development projects in Dera Ghazi Khan in the budget for fiscal year 2017-18.

A district government official said that the amount was earmarked for 29 ongoing projects and 10 new projects. He maintained that Rs70 million were allocated for new projects while Rs556 million for the ongoing development works.

He said four new police stations would be established in Taunsa, Dajil, Jatoi and Sanawan sub districts. Besides, he pointed out that funds were also allocated for the restoration of 14 existing police stations, child protection unit, family guardian courts, judicial complex in Kot Addu and land record centres in Rojhan and Rajanpur.

Moreover, check posts would also be established in the Kacha area in Dera Ghazi Khan, the official said.

In addition, two public libraries would be set up in Layyah District. He said funds would also be utilised to renovate the buildings of Counter Terrorism Department in Layyah and Dera Ghazi Khan and establishment of police stations at Kot Chatta, Jampur, Muhammadpur, Bangla Acha, Shehar Sultan and Rojhan for increased efficiency of Border Military Police.
