Christians all set to celebrate Christmas today

Churches have been decorated with colorful lights, posters and the traditional Christmas trees.

FAISALABAD: Christians are all set to celebrate Christmas on Monday (today) across the world.

The activities regarding Christmas in the city gained momentum on Sunday in order to celebrate the most important religious festival of the Christian community in a most befitting manner.

The Christian families, including elders, boys and girls are seen at city's shopping centres in Kutchery Bazaar, Anarkali, main bazaars of Madina Chowk, Mansoorabad, Jhal Khannoana on Sitiana Road, D-Type Colony, D-ground, Jameelabad, Ghulistan Colony and other spots of readymade garments and shoes.

The churches in the city have been decorated with colorful lights, posters and the traditional Christmas trees in areas where Christians live in large numbers.

In order to facilitate the community, gifts and cash were distributed among Christian workers of Bahawalpur Waste Management Company for Christmas. MPA Fozia Ayub Qureshi, Director Board Samiullah Chaudhry, Father Nadeem Joseph and Managing Director BWMC Aneem Akhtar cut the cake.  The managing director also announced to pay the salary of the month of December in advance to more than 350 Christian workers so that they could celebrate Christmas with ease.

Christmas alert: Commisioner reviews security details

Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhamad Saleem Afzal visited Christmas Bazaar at Saint Dominic Church Model Town-A on Sunday, where essential commodities are being sold at cheap prices for the community. Deputy Commissioner checked the standard and prices of items being sold at the Christmas Bazaar and also inspected security arrangements of the bazaar.

In Multan, ration and cheques were distributed among Christian workers by the Pakistan Horticulture Authority. District Chairman Baitul Maal Muhammad Yameen Salfi said that the provision of facilities to the minorities was the mission of the chief minister of Punjab. "Gifts are being distributed among our Christian brethren to share their happiness on the occasion of Christmas."
