NEPRA allows CPPA Re 1 per unit tariff hike over significant increase in the cost of power generation.

ISLAMABAD:

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a Re1 per unit increase in power tariff, as per fuel price adjustment formula.

Nepra officials informed that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA)had requested a Rs1.04 per unit increase in the tariff, citing the fuel price variation for the month of March. However, after examining the request, Nepra has allowed a hike of Re1 per unit.

According to CCPA, there was a significant increase in the cost of power generation due to an increase in the cost of fuel, along with higher transmission losses. The decision, however, will not be applicable to consumers of the Karachi Electric Supply Company.
