Rose McGowan condemns Meryl Streep, other stars for wearing black at upcoming Golden Globes

Over 30 Hollywood actors are planning to wear black to the awards in protest against harassment

Rose McGowan has called out fellow Hollywood superstars such as Meryl Streep, who said they plan to wear black to the upcoming Golden Globe Awards to protest against sexual harassment in Hollywood, reported The Indian Express. 

McGowan was one of the first of several women to accuse movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Since then, she has been speaking against the sexual harassment to the best of her abilities. She has also extended her support to other women and asked them to speak up and his group of women has come to be known as the “Rosearmy.”



And it isn't just Weinstein that McGowan has been after. She had called Ben Affleck a liar on Twitter too, suggesting that the Justice League actor knew about Weinstein all along. Last month, she met up with other Weinstein accusers and “survivors” like Asia Argento and Annabella Sciorra.

“Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in a silent protest,” Rose McGowan wrote on Twitter on December 16.

“YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly and affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa,” McGowan continued, referring to the fashion line designed by Weinstein’s estranged wife, Georgina Chapman.



A few days ago, US Weekly reported that more than 30 female actors who are attending  the 2018 Golden Globes have vowed to wear all black as a symbol of protest.

In the meantime, Weinstein has by now been accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by more than 75 women including some prominent Hollywood faces such as Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, McGowan and Lupita Nyong’o among others.
