The event was organised in Peshawar by K-P Directorate General of Sports and Youth Affairs. Competitions were held in 30 categories in which teams from more than 100 educational institutions from across the country participated.
Students including Asim Zubair, Moeez Alvi, Ghufran Chishti, Muslim Shagan, Hafiz Asad Sharif, Ali Behzad, Sohaib Mugheera and Malik Ahsan shone through in calligraphy, short film, spot photography, photo essay, Urdu singing, Pashto singing, Qiraa’t, Na’at, Urdu essay writing and stand-up comedy. They won gold medals and cash prizes worth Rs60,000 each.
On the other hand, Ghufran Chishti, Muslim Shagan, Nazar Abbas, Muhammad Afindi and Ammanat Ali clinched gold medal and Rs60, 000 as prize money in the music band category.

Similarly, Hindco singing, console gaming (FIFA), chess and Urdu declamation students Saba Butt, Ammaz Shabbir, Ali Rayyan Sanwal, Ahmad Gulzar and Salman Afzal grabbed silver medals and Rs40,000 each.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir congratulated the students on their achievements.
Christian staff organises cake cutting
Moreover, Punjab University’s Christian staff organised a cake cutting ceremony in connection with the Christmas celebrations.
On the occasion, Resident Officer-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Choudhary Mushtaq Masih and a large number of staff members were present.
In his address Mushtaq said that “due to religious liberty, we have been celebrating such events since last 12 years.” Later, the participants prayed for prosperity and peace in the country.
Athletics Championship begins today
Furthermore, Punjab University will organise the two-day 38th Higher Education Commission Inter University Athletics Women championship 2017-18.
In this regard, an inaugural ceremony will be held on Sunday at 10am at Wapda Sprts Complex, Ferozpur Road, Lahore.
