CM says he has requested the chief justice Lahore High Court to set up a commission for the inquiry

LAHORE: Under fire for the massacre of 14 people in the provincial metropolis minutes away from his house, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, while talking to reporters in London, said that the Model Town incident was tragic and that he announced forming of a commission the same day.

The CM said that he had held a press conference on June 17, 2014 and requested the chief justice Lahore High Court to set up a commission for the inquiry of the incident.

He added that his sympathies are with the heirs of the martyrs. However, there should no politics on dead bodies.

Orange line project

Meanwhile, Punjab CM, while addressing a meeting from London through a video link, has directed that midnight oil should be burnt for the completion of Orange Line Metro Train at the earliest.

He also directed the authorities to accelerate the speed of work on allied works attached with this project.

Shehbaz said that Orange Line Metro Train project shall provide world-class, economical and honorable travelling facilities to the masses and the sooner this project is completed, the more it will give benefit to the people.

He said that a tremendous delay of 22 months occurred in this project due to the personal interests of some of political opponents. Those political elements who created hurdles in this project have been exposed.

The Chief Minister was also given briefing about the progress on construction works during the meeting.  Provincial Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani, spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, advisor Dr Umar Saif, Chief Secretary, IG police, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority, concerned secretaries, contractors, China Railway NORINCO team and others attended the meeting from civil secretariat through a video link.

Manzoor Ahmed | 6 years ago | Reply The real tragedy is that pml n was allowed to be part of the electoral process. With such parties we don't need enemies. They are traitors and ought to be banned permanently then hanged or shot.
