Labourers Electrocuted: Monetary help for heirs demanded

LAHORE: A legislator submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly, demanding the government provide financial assistance to the family heirs of labourers, who died of electrocution while working on Monday. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz legislator Hina Pervez Butt said that three labourers were electrocuted to death while two others suffered severe injuries while working in DHA Phase-8.

They suffered an electric shock and fell down before losing consciousness. The victims were identified as Muhammad Khan, Wali Muhammad and Fakhar Hayat, all were residents of Pakpattan. In her resolution, she said that it was regrettable that no concrete measures were taken for the safety of labourers.



She pointed out neither the said companies that dealt in the installment of signboards, were registered nor had they any proper equipment for the safety of the labourers. She added that employees of the companies were not insured. She demanded the government to request these companies to register themselves and provide financial assistance to the legal heirs of the deceased.
