Qasre Zauk: Former minister’s kin remanded for two weeks

Accountability Court sent to jail Adil Saleem, son-in-law of former provincial minister Iqbal Tikka.

An Accountability Court on Wednesday sent to jail Adil Saleem, son-in-law of former provincial minister Iqbal Tikka, on a 14-day judicial remand. Saleem was accused of embezzling millions of rupees in the Qasre Zauk property scam.

The court has directed the NAB Punjab to submit a supplementary challan against the accused on next date of hearing, May 11. Saleem allegedly, along with others, got the property in their names after kidnapping the owners of Qasre Zauk, Sheikh Ayub and his son Mohsin Ayub. Earlier, a three-member Supreme Court bench while hearing the bail petition of Mohsin Ayub had ordered the NAB to retrieve the property worth Rs 1.38 billion, conduct a thorough investigation and arrest all those involved.

Despite a freeze order by an Accountability Court and a stay granted by the Lahore High Court, the NAB transferred the property to the company Asian Gas, owned by Senator Ammar Ahmad.

NAB Punjab had recorded statements of 13 people during invetsigations.

Hamza | 13 years ago | Reply It is a relief to see that Barrister Adil Saleem has not been represented as Tikka in the news.However the news reflects the cursory examination and poor investigation of the facts of the case by the media. It is disturbing to see there is absolutely no mention of the real accused parties and Adil Saleem, who has been made a scapegoat in this corruption scam is yet again being portrayed as an accused.
