150 IT labs to be set up across Punjab

Chairman said a specialised course will start through which students will learn Java and Oracle applications

LAHORE: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will establish 150 new Information Technology (IT) labs across the 36 districts of the province to train 20,000 students yearly, said TEVTA chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh. He was talking to office bearers of Oracle Pakistan on Friday.

The chairman said a specialised course will be started through which students would be able to get training in Java and Oracle applications. The team of Oracle will train 150 master trainers of TEVTA and they will further provide training to students at 150 different institutes of the authority’s institutes located across Punjab.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed very soon by officials of both organisations in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The chairman said IT is a basic need of everyone in today’s era, therefore, the chief minister has converted the system of all government departments on the computer.
