MULTAN: A man allegedly threw his five-year-old daughter into a canal in limits of Basti Malook police.

An official of Basti Malook police station said Muhammad Riaz, a resident of Chah Talok Chandwala, Shujabad Tehsil, had four children. He was frustrated and depressed after the death of his wife Asiya Bibi.

He added one of his daughters namely Aleeza, 5, was differently abled and was unable to walk due to disability. “In sheer frustration, Riaz threw his daughter Aleeza into Chadarwali Canal.”

Later, the police recovered the corpse of the minor girl from the canal and registered a case against the accused on the complaint of grandfather of the deceased girl. The police have arrested Riaz and started investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death by unidentified outlaws in Kalro Colony on the premises of Gulgasht police station.

The police said they received information on emergency helpline about a body in Kalro Colony.

The people informed the police that 55-year-old Ashiq had been killed by unknown outlaws.

The deceased was killed with repeated blows on his neck with a sharp weapon, the police said.

The family members of the victim told the police that deceased Ashiq had a dispute with a man, Kashif of the same locality.
