QUETTA: Security forces apprehended 12 people including four Qatari nationals for illegal hunting in Balochistan earlier this week.

They were arrested in an operation from Pak-Afghan border area near Nauskhi and Jhal Magsi districts of the province, sources said.

While the hunters are in custody, an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

During the hunting season, royal families from Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia often come to Balochistan for the purpose of hunting of houbara bustards and other birds.

Earlier this year, levies officials had registered a case against Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti for hunting a Markhor, an endangered species.
