The male staff at all government-run girls colleges in the province will be replaced by women, said Sindh Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq, on Tuesday.
This matter came up a few months ago when a scandal erupted in rural Sindh after students came forward with charges of molestation and rape.
The minister said that female staff should be provided adequate residential facilities. He asked senior members to pay regular visits to monitor them. The department discussed the Annual Development Project schemes for the fiscal year 2011-12.
Projects at the Sufi University Bhitshah, Bhitshah Institute of Management Sciences have not been completed, and neither have new colleges been set up in certain talukas. Nine government colleges had been set up in areas where colleges were already successfully operating. As a result, the new colleges have low attendance and enrollment.
