NAB wants initial inquiry report on NTS

Rawalpindi bureau told to determine who was responsible, why secure system was not built

ISLAMABAD: The apex anti-corruption watchdog has sought a preliminary report of an inquiry being conducted by the body’s Rawalpindi office into the alleged corruption, leakage of question papers and other irregularities in the top testing service.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal issued directions to the Rawalpindi Regional Bureau to submit the report, a statement issued by the bureau said.



Justice Iqbal had directed the NAB Rawalpindi director general to conduct an inquiry into the National Testing Service (NTS) a month ago after receiving several complaints against the service. The complaints alleged frequent outing of question papers, corrupt practices and failure to protect interests of students.

The NAB Rawalpindi has also been tasked to probe those responsible for allowing the NTS to conduct various examinations despite the presence of provincial and federal service commissions.

NAB Rawalpindi has also been assigned to probe why NTS failed to devise a secure, transparent and merit-based examination system.

The allegedly non-transparent system of examination of NTS has not only jeopardised the future of thousands of students but also squandered their precious resources, which has no moral or legal reasons.
