KARACHI: The chilly winds from Balochistan, which resulted in cold weather in Karachi, have died down and the mercury in Karachi has seen a rise. The minimum temperature in Karachi will remain between 12°C and 14°C today (Saturday), while the rise in humidity may lead to reduced visibility.

The Karachi Met office recorded on Friday a minimum temperature of 11°C. According to the Met office, the rise in temperature was sudden. The temperature was recorded at 14°C at 8am, reached 20°C at around 9am and peaked at 26°C close to 10am.

According to Met Department Regional Director Shahid Abbas, sea winds have also started blowing, which has nullified the north-eastern cold winds blowing from Balochistan and Iran. This might result in a decrease in cold weather.

The Met office said that the minimum temperature in Karachi today (Saturday) might be between 12°C and 14°C, with an unusual rise in humidity at 70% to 80% early in the morning. This increase in humidity may lead to mist all over the city. The visibility may decrease from the usual six kilometres to a striking one kilometre.
