RAWALPINDI: Director-General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rana Zahid Mehmood is persistent in keeping his post even after expiration of his contract on April 21, The Express Tribune has learnt.

On Monday, Mehmood attempted to chair an Executive Board Meeting of the bureau, which led participating staff to boycott proceedings.

Sources inside NAB informed that Mehmood conveyed a message to Director Investigations Wing-I Group Captain (retired) Shamsher, Director Investigation Wing -II Squadron leader (retired) Irshadul Haq and other concerned officials, that he planned to attend the bureau’s Executive Board Meeting, but the officials refused to let him participate on grounds that his contract had expired.

Sources said that NAB headquarters and authorities concerned have refused to extend Mehmmod’s current contract or to grant him a new one, following a Supreme Court verdict.
