Woman in India's Haryana gets 30 years in jail for husband's gruesome murder

She dismembered the body into pieces to hide it, police say she killed her husband over her extramarital affair

A woman was sentenced to 30 years in jail by a court in Jhajjar town of the Indian state of Haryana for brutally murdering her husband  and dismembering his body into pieces.

Puja, 30, killed Baljeet, 38, in April last year in Asanda village of  Jhajjar, and cut his body into eight pieces, which she concealed in different parts of her house, NDTV reported.

Police investigation revealed that Puja murdered Baljeet because she was having an affair with another man and wanted to get rid of her husband.

Baljeet's brother, Kuljeet, complained to the police on April 26, 2016 about his brother going missing.

He told the police that he and his sisters went to their brother's house to find about about his whereabouts but Puja's response to their queries was "suspicious".

His sisters also noticed a foul smell emanating from a suitcase in one of the rooms.

The police raided the house and found part of Baljeet's corpse in the suitcase..

Other parts of his body were found in eight different locations in the house. Baljeet's head was discovered buried under the floor.
