Teacher dismissed after inquiry with immediate effect

FAISALABAD: Education Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Javaid Iqbal Chishti has dismissed a teacher on charge of torturing students.

An official of education department said on Tuesday the CEO received complaints against teacher Khursheed Ahmad of Government High School, Gaddian about torture on schoolchildren.

In this regard, an inquiry committee was constituted and during probe, the schoolteacher was found guilty of the offence. Therefore, the CEO dismissed the teacher with immediate effect, the official added.

Meanwhile, Sheikhupura Road police arrested a kite seller and seized more than 1,500 kites from his possession. The police said a police team conducted surprise raid near Bhatta Stop and nabbed a kite seller Sharif along with kites and kite-flying material.

The police also confiscated more than 1,500 kites and other material from his possession. The police, in a drive against criminals, arrested 34 criminals, including 24 proclaimed offenders from the city during the last 24 hours.

The police said that teams also seized nine pistols, one gun, one rifle, 6.158 kilogrammes of hashish and 126 litres of liquor from their possession. Further investigation was under way.
