Martyred rescuers, who sacrifice their lives to save humanity, are the real heroes of society and assets of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), said Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer.
He was speaking at a remembrance ceremony organised on Friday at the Emergency Services Headquarters in reverence of martyred Rescuer Noman Abbas, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty a week ago in Hafizabad.

Dr Naseer said Rescue 1122 has a lot of trained professionals who are willing to lay down their lives for fellow citizens.
A total of 12 rescuers, including Noman Abbas, have embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, thus far, he said.
He said that Abbas has made his parents, his director general, his fellow officers and colleagues proud by sacrificing his life while responding to an emergency in Hafizabad.
“I salute him as he is the real hero of Rescue 1122.” The DG added his parents should be proud to have raised him to rescue the lives of others.
The director general paid rich tribute to the parents of Abbas and announced financial assistance, as per government policy, at the earliest. He directed the Hafizabad District Emergency Officer Engineer Sibghatullah to extend his full cooperation to the aggrieved family.
Muhammad Abbas, the father of the martyred rescuer, said he was proud of being the father of his martyred son. “All of you rescuers are my sons as I see my Noman in your green uniform,” he said.
