SHABQADAR: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated a new block of a charity hospital run by Tehmina Durrani’s family at Charsada on Saturday.

The prime minister’s visit was kept under wraps until the last moment and even the local elected representative of JUI-F, MNA Maulana Gauhar Shah of Charsada, was not informed about it.

When asked about the PM’s visit, Shah said he had heard on the media that the PM inaugurated a new block of the charity hospital run by Tehmina Durani’s family in Zo Rehmat at Shaikh Kali in Charsadda.

He said that no elected representative was invited by the event’s organisers, adding that even the local PML-N leadership, who also complained about not being invited to the function, was not aware of the visit.

PM Abbasi used a helicopter for the visit. The hospital is famous for eye care in the district.

The organisers also kept media-persons away from the function, who protested at the hospital when they were stopped on its main entrance.

The main Peshawar-Charsadda road was kept closed during the PM’s visit. According to insiders, the PM also had an informal meeting with members of Tehmina Durrani’s family.

Although the PM did not announce any project for Charsada during his visit, a road between the Tehmina family’s guest house and the hospital was built just a night before the PM’s visit.
