PESHAWAR: A couple of days after he was spotted using an official helicopter to attend a wedding, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) CM Pervez Khattak issued a statement on Wednesday banning VIP protocol for himself, including blocking of roads during his official visits.

The chief minister's secretariat circulated a notification that no VIP protocol would be arranged during Khattak's visits and only one security vehicle would accompany him.

"No roads will be blocked for his movement, no extra security personnel will be deployed on the route and no cavalcade of vehicles will be allowed," the statement read.

Only those officials will be allowed to follow Khattak to brief him and will reach the vicinnity separately.

The chief minister faced intense criticism after he was spotted using his official helicopter to attend the wedding of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) lawmaker Ibrar Tanuli’s son in Mansehra on November 6.

The chief minister's secretariat refuted the news saying that Khattak went on an official visit to Abbottabad in the helicopter following which he attended the wedding ceremony.
