ISLAMABAD: The Departmental Working Party (DWP) of the civic agency has deferred a project of the grade-separation facility on the intersection of Seventh Avenue, Khayaban-e-Suharwardy and Kashmir Highway Phase-I.

Mayor of Islamabad and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz chaired the 40th DWP meeting at CDA headquarters here on Tuesday.

The meeting approved a project regarding the construction of an additional block of the CDA Model School in Sector I-9 at an estimated cost of Rs46.903 million.

The DWP also approved projects for constructing an approach road from gate No-III of the PM Office to the helipad in Aiwan-e-Sadr at an estimated cost of Rs50.031 million.

In a statement, the CDA said that the grade-separation facility at Intersection of Seventh Avenue with Khayaban-e-Suharwardy and Kashmir Highway, Phase-I at an estimated cost of Rs1.324 billion was placed before the party.

The project was discussed in detail but the meeting decided to take it up at its next meeting after suggested improvements were included.

A CDA official told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity that despite the fact that the project is located close to a key security installation, the cloverleaf design of the interchange had been approved.

Another official said that officials at the security installation had communicated some conditions to the CDA for building the project including a passage towards Khayaban-e-Suharwardy, apart from raising the height of walls along the road and intended flyover for security purposes.
