Last year when Elon Musk announced that he wants to build underground tunnels in Los Angeles to end the congestion and long wait at the traffic signals, most people laughed at that suggestion.

Some felt he was saying this out of frustration from the LA traffic but knowing Musk, he wouldn't say something just like that.

Just yesterday, he shared a picture of the LA tunnel in progress and from what it looks, its certainly going to be a game changer.

The Boring Company is still relatively new and its early stages but the fact that it got permission for not just one but two tunnels - one outside LA and the other will be in Maryland -  is rather mind-boggling.

The plan involves building a massive lift that will lower the cars onto a magnetic platform from where they will then be on a rail that will allow the speed of up to 124 mph.

Early this year he revealed a video that showed the lifts, platform and the rail.

The firm, Musk set up to oversee the project – The Boring Company – took up less than 3% of his time, he said, and it was run by interns and part-timers.

Let's see what impact the tunnel has when it completes and whether it helps produce the most innovative way to avoid traffic.
