SKARDU:
Traders in Skardu decided to postpone their strike on the government assurances.

Representative bodies of traders had called for a shutter-down strike against imposition of withholding tax in the region.

CM’s Special Assistants Abid Ali Baig and Farooq Mir on Wednesday welcomed traders’ decision about postponement of strike in Skardu.

Gilgit-Baltistan government stands by its promises on taxes, they said in a statement.

They regretted that some elements, for political gains were enticing traders against the government and all such attempts would be foiled with support of the masses.

The union of drivers and the association of transporters in G-B rejected the shutter-down strike call of traders and brought out their vehicles on roads.

“We have no concerns with today’s strike and vehicles will continue to come on roads by providing service to people,” leader of transporters Haji Taj told a press conference flanked by Muhammad Yaqoob a representative of commercial drivers.
