HARIPUR: Hundreds of protestors in Haripur on Thursday took to the streets against the imposition of section-IV of the Land Acquisition Act on the proposed land for shifting Haripur general bus stand. The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans demanding withdrawal of the notification issued by the administration. District Nazim VC Mirpur Azmat Khan was leading the protest. The authorities plan to transfer Hairpur general bus stand and for that, they are trying to acquire 147 kanals of land near gate number 11. A day earlier, the administration imposed section-IV on the proposed land which infuriated locals. The protestors said that they were being made scapegoats merely to put barren lands into commercial use.
