Robber killed, constable injured in encounter

The police ordered the outlaws to surrender but they opened indiscriminate fire at the police

FAISALABAD: A robber was killed while a police constable sustained bullet injuries in a cross fire on in the wee hours of Saturday. Gulberg police received a tip-off that two robbers were looting citizens near a graveyard on Narwala Road.

A raiding team, headed by SHO Gulberg, encircled the robbers near Yamaha Chowk. The police ordered the outlaws to surrender but they opened indiscriminate fire at the police due to which constable Athar Walayat suffered bullet injuries. The police also returned fire and killed one robber who was identified as Farhan, a resident of Malkhanwala, whereas his brother Salman alias Faisal managed to escape. The outlaws were wanted by police in several cases of robberies and theft.
