Security forces, on Saturday, recovered bodies of two ex-servicemen from Buner district of Malakand Division who reportedly went missing a few days ago.

Police officials told The Express Tribune that the two ex-servicemen, identified as Fazal Waheed and Tariq, were appointed at the Elum police station and went missing while buying goods in a nearby market.

After recovering the bodies, security forces cordoned off the area and arrested several suspects during a search operation; the bodies of the deceased have been sent to their respective hometowns.

Malakand Operation: Top TTP commander arrested

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police have recently acquired services of ex-servicemen in Malakand Division in a bid to establish peace in the region.

The security situation remains uncertain in the division. In February this year, a top commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat chapter was arrested during an operation by security forces and the counter-terrorism department. The security forces arrested Ihsanur Rehman and his aides after receiving information about their presence in Kishwar village.
