Electricity: Agreement signed with China

The project will be completed with the cooperation of China in three years and will cost Rs26 billion.

LAHORE: Agreement has been signed with China for generation of 120 megawatts of power from Taunsa Barrage.

The project will be completed with the cooperation of China in three years and will cost Rs26 billion.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that generation of power from the barrage would help mobilise the economy, as well as generate employment opportunities.

Saif Choudhri | 12 years ago | Reply The cost of the project seems quite expensive. On average the cost of electricity generation projects is USD 1 to 1.2 million per MW. Here the cost is coming out to be USD 2.5 million per MW. Perhaps, there is a rationale and someone from the punjab govt. can explain this.
