‘PC-1 for Nishtar Hospital II being finalised’

Patients from Waziristan, Kashmir and Balochistan also visit hospital

MULTAN: Planning Commission (PC-1) for Nishtar Hospital II is being finalised to share the burden of the medical facility on the directives of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Nishtar Hospital II will initially comprise of 500 beds which will be increased to 2,000 beds.

This was said by Multan Commissioner Bilal Ahmad Butt while addressing a session of PC-1 for Nishtar Hospital II on Monday. He said that in future, a medical college and university will also be established at Nishtar Hospital II.

“The citizens will have all health facilities under one roof in Nishtar Hospital II,” he added.

He directed the officers concerned to map the project while keeping in mind the growing population and its needs. The commissioner maintained, “Multan Kidney Center has all state-of-the-art facilities. Soon an advanced operation theater will also be established in it.”

Bilal Ahmad pointed out that he would sought report of administrative arrangements of other hospitals, especially of old block of Childrens’ Hospital.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chatta said that a complete research was done on the government hospitals of Multan.

He added the research statistics indicated that 25,000 patients visit government hospitals of Multan on a daily basis accompanied by three to four attendants. The patients from Waziristan, Kashmir and Balochistan also visit Nishtar Medical Hospital, he said.

The DC said that the front of Nishtar Hospital II will be of at least 10 acres. However, the total area for the medical facility would be 339 acres. While giving briefing, Assistant Commissioner Kashif Dogar said that working papers for the project were being processed and the location had been selected in Mauza Hamidpur Kanora, three kilometers from Nagshah.

The meeting was also attended by Nishtar Medical Hospital and University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mustufa Kamal Pasha, MS Nishtar Hospital Dr Abdur Rehman Qureshi and Health CEO Shahid Bukhari.
