Says if Sharif family given clean chits, PTI will take to the roads seeking justice

Continuing his diatribe, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is busy in saving the skin of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif in corruption cases.

“A disqualified person [Sharif] challenging the decision of the court in public is itself a contempt of court,” the PTI chief said while addressing a gathering of politicians, teachers and students at the Gomal University in D I Khan on Tuesday. He was flanked by provincial and central party leadership of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He said the government did not contact the PTI while appointing the National Accountability Bureau chief, but still the masses have faith in the newly appointed chairman to provide justice.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party support each other’s stance at every forum, said the PTI chief, adding that the PPP leadership, through various means, provides a way out for Sharif as they know that he cannot prove his money trail in court.



He said after PTI gains majority in the 2018 general elections, it will be in a position to form governments in all four provinces. “Then the way to power for Sharif and Zardari will be impeded through electoral reforms,” he added.

Khan said it is an irony that sacked premier Sharif and former king of corruption Zardari have total assets of Rs300 billion abroad, but still Sharif asks why he has been ousted.

Zardari amassed a fortune of billions of rupees, 100,000 hectares land and 19 sugar mills through unmerited means, but still the PPP leadership and voters turn a blind eye to these facts and support him, he asserted.

“If the nation fails to get justice and the verdict turns out to be in favour of Sharif and his family, PTI will be left with only one option –take to the roads to seek justice,” Khan said.

At the occasion, he also appreciated the efforts of the forest department’s secretary in succeeding in the billion-tree tsunami project and hoped that their plan for a greener K-P would be achieved soon.
