Overdue: Export promoters unpaid for 8 months

SIALKOT:

Eight Cluster Development Agents (CDAs) in Sialkot have been waiting for release of their salaries for the last eight months due to alleged slackness on the part of Sialkot-based officials of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

Talking to the media on Monday, the agents said they had been working as CDAs for boosting Sialkot’s exports through networking for the last three years under the supervision of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and in active collaboration with TDAP.

When contacted, TDAP Sialkot Director Basit Rauf told the media that high TDAP officials had already taken notice of the matter and the case of the eight employees would be presented in next meeting of the Export Development Fund (EDF) board for approval.

He said TDAP Sialkot officials had been waiting for the go-ahead in that regard from the EDF board.
