ISLAMABAD:

Former captain Zaheer Abbas has suggested that a stadium should be built at the Wagah border where a series between archrivals Pakistan and India should be played.

Abbas said that the venue should be constructed in such a way that half of it should be on Pakistan’s territory and the other half on India’s. He was also of the view that the stadium could be used as a multi-sports centre which can help in promoting sporting ties between the two countries.

“It’s just a personal opinion as both countries can come to a mid-point at the border and play against each other,” said Abbas. “In this way we won’t have to obtain an NOC.”

The former captain added that fans from both countries will then be able to watch the matches ‘on their own home ground’. The Asian Bradman further said that it was now time that India and Pakistan resumed bilateral cricketing ties, which have been put on hold for over three years.
