Verdict: Man gets life term for killing brother-in-law

Convict Riaz had shot dead Qadeer over a domestic dispute in 2015

SIALKOT: Additional District and Sessions Judge Farhan Mudassir awarded life sentence to a man for killing his brother-in-law in Civil Lines police area.

The prosecution told the court that accused Muhammad Riaz had shot dead his brother-in-law Qadeer Ahmed over a domestic dispute on October 12, 2015. However, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in the court.

After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded life imprisonment to the accused. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs0.3 million on the convict.

Earlier, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq awarded life sentence to a man for killing a person in Saddar police area.

The prosecution told the court that accused Jamshed had shot dead a passerby Kamran during a clash with his opponents. However, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in the court.

After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded life imprisonment to the accused. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the accused that would be given to the heirs of the deceased.

In another case, a man was sentenced to three-and-a-half years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs60,000 in a narcotics case in Sialkot.

Additional District and Session Judge Amjad Ali Bajwa announced the verdict after Zulfiqar pleaded guilty.

The convict was arrested by Rangpura police in three different cases last year. The convict would have to undergo an additional three months imprisonment in case of failure to pay the fine.
