Gen Qamar warns people badmouthing Pakistan, its army

RAWALPINDI: Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the people badmouthing Pakistan and its army and talking about dismembering the country cannot escape the law.

“No power can harm us as long as we have such valiant sons of the soil and their brave parents in Pakistan,” the army chief said during a visit to the parents of a young army officer, Lieutenant Arsalan Alam Shaheed at his village in Murree on Monday.

Lt Arsalan embraced martyrdom at a newly-established border post in the Rajgal area of Tirah Valley, Khyber Agency, on Saturday. Lt Arsalan, the only son of family with three sisters, preferred his country over himself and his family.

General Qamar offered Fatiha at the martyr’s grave and interacted with his family, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.

While paying tribute to Lt Arsalan, the army chief said that the army and the nation were proud of their Shuhadas (martyrs) who had rendered supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.

The army chief also described the ordeal he goes through when he loses a soldier saying: “The night when I lose one of my soldiers or an NCO is very difficult for me because I feel I have lost a part of my flesh.” However, he added “The next morning I wake up with the oath that I have to work hard and ensure that the blood of these kids does not go to waste.”

On the contrary, some people and hostile agencies from abroad were badmouthing Pakistan and its army and talking about dismembering the country.

“Let me make it clear that no power can harm us as long as we have such valiant sons of the soil and their brave parents in Pakistan,” he added. “Pakistan's enemy is our enemy. Use of force is the prerogative of the state alone.”

The army chief said Pakistan Army would continue to perform in the best interest of the country and would stand by the nation against all challenges. He also expressed the resolve to restore peace and rule of law, whatever sacrifices it might cost.

He also told the countrymen that that they should not worry as the army is ready to tackle any internal or external challenges Pakistan faces.
