HYDERABAD: A young man was whisked away on Wednesday evening by men in plainclothes in Thatta district. Barkat Ali Memon, son of a local trader and transporter Muhammad Memon, was travelling in a van from Karachi to Gharo when he was stopped and taken away.
Muhammad claims that the locals are unaware of his son's arrest. He added that Barkat is not associated with any political or nationalist party or any other outfit and fears he may have been subjected to enforced disappearance.

According to him, another passenger of the van was also taken away, along with his son. The identity of that person could not be ascertained. Thatta police said they are investigating the matter but they are clueless about the whereabouts of the two missing men.
