New block ready to treat SIMS patients

CM will later formally inaugurate the OPD

LAHORE: A newly-constructed outdoor and in-patient block with 330 beds has been made functional at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS).

The state-of-the-art outdoor block, consisting of nine floors and 180 beds, has been allocated for the paediatric unit.

The soft launch was done to facilitate people from the new initiative. However, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will formally inaugurate the new OPD block later.

This was stated by Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah while talking to media persons after a visit to the newly operationalised OPD/in-patient block at the Services Hospital on Saturday morning.

SIMS Principal Dr Mahmood Ayaz, Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Amin, senior clinicians, administrative doctors and officers of the Communication and Works Department also accompanied the secretary.

Najam Ahmed Shah took a round of the whole building and reviewed the health facilities as well as administrative matters.

He ordered steps to further improve the digital token system to facilitate outdoor patients. He ordered that more staff should be deputed on the special counter established for senior citizens.

Najam Ahmed Shah visited paediatrics nursery, paediatric wards, pharmacy, pathological lab etc.

He also enquired over the health of admitted children and asked about health facilities being provided by the hospital to their
mothers who were attendants.

On this occasion, Principal Dr Mahmood Ayaz described the paediatrics nursery as a state-of-the-art facility where the latest gadgets, including incubators were installed.

Earlier, Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah presided over a meeting in the hospital to review development works and facilities completed in the new OPD block.
