While Race fans are fervently waiting for the third installment of the action-thriller, Saif Ali Khan fanatics are disappointed at the cast selection that will feature Salman Kahn as the lead, reports Bollywoodlife.

Saif, who aced his parts in the first two installments, confirmed this news at the launch of his upcoming film Chef that took place recently. The Hum Tum star wished Salman good luck with the projects while despondently announcing that he was never offered the role.

Confirmed: Jacqueline Fernandez to reunite with Salman Khan for 'Race 3'

Following the announcement, Bollywoodlife conducted a poll to gauge fans reactions at the film-makers' decision to cast Salman in the lead, and reportedly they were fuming. Saif won by an overwhelming  majority as the preferred actor for the film and fiery comments demanded that the star better return to the franchise!

A new male lead, however,  is not the only thing different about the upcoming sequel. Previously helmed by the prolific film-makers Abbas-Mastan, Race 3 is being directed by the revered choreographer Remo D'Souza and will feature Jacqueline Fernandez alongside the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star. Needless to say, the action-thriller will be packed with quite a few up-beat dance numbers.

Salman Khan will go through Brad Pitt-style epic transformation for upcoming film

With a fresh captain of the ship and a new team and crew, we are expecting Race 3 to sail a different trail than its preceding flicks. Whether this new ensemble is approved by the franchise fanatics is something only time can tell.
