Angels or Demons? How clown and joker emerge as a symbol of our times
The entertainment company has an eye on him and believes that he will best portray the role in the untitled movie centred on the origins of the most iconic Batman villain. They seem to be going high and low to convince the Oscar-winner to get on board.
No offer has been made to the Great Gatsby star so far as director Martin Scorsese’s production contract has not yet been finalised. However, it won’t come as a surprise if Scorsese jumps at the opportunity to take DiCaprio as soon as it is finalised, as the pair are frequent collaborators.

They have previously joined hands for The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street.
The Joker was originally played by Mr Nobody actor Jared Leto in the DC Extended Universe movie franchise. As rumours of DiCaprio’s casting for the role surfaced, Leto was understandably not too pleased. Nevertheless, he will likely reprise the role in Suicide Squad 2.
Scott Silver will join Todd Phillips, best known for his The Hangover franchise, as a co-writer for the film. Rumour has it; the story will explore the reasons behind the Joker becoming a criminal mastermind.
Sources state the movie will take us back to the 80s, revolving around a young bullied version of the notorious character. It may involve gritty crime drama rather than the comic book style scenes.
