PESHAWAR: For provision of quality education to tribal students at their doorstep, government has established an engineering college in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) which will start operation in the current month.

After successful establishment of Fata University in Darra Adam Khel, it was decided to set up an engineering university in tribal area, said Additional Chief Secretary Fata Fida Muhammad Wazir.

Addressing a press conference here at Fata Secretariat on Monday, ACS Fata said the engineering college in Sadda, Kurram Agency will start accepting admissions from current month. The government has decided to provide quality education on fast track basis and in this connection private sector has also been invited to Fata.

Wazir disclosed that soon renowned private educational institutions including Peshawar Model School, Edwards College, City University, CECOS University will open branches in tribal areas.

The administration of Peshawar Model School has agreed in opening of their branches in Mohmand and Bajaur Agencies, he added.

Similarly, soon a separate Medical College for tribal students will be established in Fata within next six months.

ACS said government is fully focusing on reconstruction, rehabilitation and development of Fata through proper and judicial utilization of funds. In the last year’s ADP, 83 per cent of funds were allocated for ongoing schemes and 17 per cent for new ones.
