The writ petition was filed by PU spokesperson and PhD applicant Khuram Shehzad. He contended the PU administration discriminated against him and failed him by just three marks. The counsel for Shehzad told the court that PU’s administration, without following merit, gave extra marks to its favourite students. The counsel further said the dean of the university had ordered the inquiry and asked that the admission test be re-evaluated.
