At Noor Mahal Bahawalpur’s Polo Ground an exhibition of military arms and ammunition was held which was inaugurated by Corps Commander Bahawalpur Lieutenant General Sher Afghan. Several stalls were set-up where military weapons were put on display for masses.
Defence Day: Nation pays homage to martyrs
Pakistan Army Aviation’s Mashaaq Fighter jets participated in the airshow while an army band complemented show with the tunes of national and military songs. The event of horse riding attracted children.
On the occasion of the Defence Day, a special ceremony to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyrs of 1965 war was organised in which Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sher Afghan laid floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial at Bahawalpur Garrison. While addressing the ceremony, the corps commander said the Defence Day was extremely important for the whole nation especially for the Pakistan Army.
“On this day, we pay tribute to the martyrs and brave soldiers who wrote a new chapter of the nation’s history with their blood,” he remarked.
He assured the families of the martyrs that on every step of life and in difficult situations the whole nation would stand alongside them. Families of the martyrs and children from different schools presented tribute to the brave soldiers of who fought to protect the country.
Meanwhile, in Multan a two-day exhibition of military warfare equipment and weapons began at Ayub Stadium in Multan Cantonment in connection with the celebrations of Defence Day.
A large number of women, children and students from different institutions flocked Ayub Stadium to attend the exhibition.
The Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with national fervour and enthusiasm in the ancient city of Multan. The day commenced with special prayers in mosques for the peace, prosperity and solidarity of the country and to pay tribute to those who laid their lives for the protection of the country.
Corps Commander Multan Lieutenant General Sarfraz Sattar along with garrison commander and other military officers visited the exhibition that would remain open for the public for two days for general public.
77th Pakistan Day: Spectacular display of military might
The exhibition has been organised by Multan Corps. A military band played the tunes of national songs. The exhibition displayed modern warfare weapons, helicopter gunships, tanks, radar, machineguns and other military equipment.
The exhibition also included modern arms and ammunition, including precision weapons being used by the army and paramilitary forces in the operation Zarb-e-Azb and Raddul Fasaad. Fateha and Quran Khawani were also held for the martyrs.
The visitors lauded the initiative of the Pakistan Army and voiced hope that such events would continue to be held in future as well.
