LAYYAH: A man threw his three minor daughters into a canal and committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on the jurisdiction of Chowk Azam police station in Layyah on Wednesday.

According to police, Rana Naveed Iqbal, who was a resident of ward No. 9 of Chowk Azam, worked as a teacher at a local school. He took away his daughters named Sania, Hifza and Haawia on the pretext of visiting Tale Munda Canal where he threw all of them into the canal. Later, he ended his own life. Chowk Azam police station took the pistol into custody.

The bodies of the girls were fished out of the canal and shifted to the hospital for an autopsy. Earlier this year, On April 27, a man killed his five children by poisoning them before committing suicide in a village in Layyah district.

The children were identified as a boy named Tayyab, 11, and four girls named Tayyabbah, 12, Tanzeela, nine, Shanzeh, eight, and Saba, six.
