ISLAMABAD: The petroleum division of the Ministry of Energy is in the process of increasing the gas quota for new housing societies from 200 to 300 connections per scheme.

“The National Assembly Standing Committee has recommended the increase and it will be implemented as soon as the meeting minutes are approved,” officials told APP. The connections will be given on a first come first served basis, they added.

The committee had also recommended the Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) to give two million gas connections during the current fiscal year 2017-18.

The recommendations came after the committee observed that the government had largely overcome the energy crisis due to import of Liquefied Natural Gas.
