Minor boy also drowns in Lyari River while bathing

KARACHI: At least three people drowned while swimming at Hawke's Bay on the third day of Eidul Azha. Following the incident, rescuers jumped into the sea but were unable to rescue the victims.

Police officials said that the victims were later identified as Danish, son of Behram Khan, Sameed, son of Behram Khan and Naeem. Police officials said that the body of Danish was recovered while a search for the bodies of the remaining victim's is under way.

Danish's body was shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family for the burial process.

Meanwhile, a minor boy drowned in Lyari River while bathing. Rescue volunteers immediately reached the site, but the victim has yet to be recovered. A search for him is under way.

Following an increase in drowning cases at Karachi's beaches, the provincial government in May 2017 imposed a ban on swimming in the sea for six months.

The government had notified that under Section 144 of the CrPC, a ban has been imposed on wading through, swimming and diving in the sea at the beaches of metropolis for the next six months.
