Police directed to keep an eye on banned outfits

KARACHI: The Sindh government has directed the police and intelligence agencies to monitor banned outfits which collect the hides of sacrificial animals during Eidul Azha.

"A few militant organisations that were banned in the country had been collecting hides from various areas of the city. We have strictly asked the police to monitor these activities and take action," Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal said, adding that no one will be allowed to knock the doors or set up camps in any area of Karachi for hides' collections.



Sharing the details of codes of conduct, he said, "It is the citizens' choice to hand over sacrificial animal's hide, no one can force them."

"It will come under harassment if anyone knocks a door and demands the hide of the animal. Police and Rangers patrolling the area can take action against them," he added.

The code of conduct prepared by the home department said that only prescribed organisations, political parties and seminaries that have previously gotten the permission from district administration can receive hides in their offices, but they will have no right to visit or pressurise any citizen.



"No one will be allowed to use loud speakers or banners for this purpose and if they do so, the government will come into action," the code of conduct said, adding that there will be a three- days ban on carrying weapons in the city. "People cannot carry their licenced arms.

The law enforcers have strictly been asked to ensure this ban by starting snap-checking," the code of conduct said, adding that all political parties and religious parties must ensure the implementation of the ban.



The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and city administration has decided to start spraying in front of eidgahs and mosques where Eid prayers will be offered. All deputy commissioners have been asked to monitor the situation. A control room has been setup in the Karachi commissioner office where people can register complaints at 021- 99205634, 021-99203443.

The KMC and district municipal corporations will also setup complaint centres in areas where citizens can register complaints incase offal disposal is not removed.
