UoE signs MoU with American Institute of Pakistan Studies for greater access

LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between University of Education (UoE) and American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) to promote higher education through faculty training by foreign scholars.

A ceremony was held at UoE on Monday to sign the MoU. According to the agreement, UoE and AIPS will cooperate on activities to promote higher education. They will focus on faculty training by foreign scholars and ensure their academic placements. The agreement states that both parties will share information and use their resources more efficiently and effectively to promote research, specifically in the field of social sciences.

For Pakistani scholars: Britain to introduce another fellowship 

Additionally, UoE and AIPS will arrange master training workshops to develop an effective pool of trainers for university staff in Punjab. The American Institute of Pakistan Studies will help University of Education bring senior US faculty to conduct training and develop linkages with American universities.

UoE and AIPS will organise a series of academic seminars in which American scholars will exchange ideas with their Pakistani counterparts at UoE different campuses.

According to the agreement, AIPS will encourage and facilitate the academic partnership between UoE and AIPS member universities. The partnership will include faculty exchange and exchanges as well as split degrees and collaborative research programmes on topics of common interest. The American Institute of Pakistan Studies will also assist University of Education in finding suitable placement for doctoral and post-doctoral scholars at US universities.

'Jobless' PhD scholars draw HEC's attention

University of Education Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam and American Institute of Pakistan Studies President Dr Kamran Asdar Ali signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. On the occasion, Dr Rauf-i-Azam expressed his confidence that the signing of such MoUs would open new vistas of research and exchange of ideas between the academic leaders of both nations and would boost the relationship between Pakistan and America.
