Foreign Assistance: Canada to help build Peshawar-Torkham Highway

Phased construction on the road will start next week and is expected to be completed within three years.

LANDI KOTAL: Canadian High Commissioner Ross Hynes said that the government of Canada will assist in the construction of the Peshawar-Torkham Highway to mitigate the problems of the masses. He stated this while speaking in a high level meeting here on the Pak-Afghan border.

Phased construction on the road will start next week and is expected to be completed within three years. A team of engineers, he said would arrive next week.

The meeting discussed the Liaison Office on the Peshawar-Torkham Highway at Torkham, noting that it will help resolve problems faced by traders and travellers. During the briefing it was stated that the office would promote coordination between the two neighbours.
